Founded in 2001 and headed by Peter Evans Shihan 5th Dan and Steve Hayward Renshi 3rd Dan. Based on the techniques, concepts and traditions found within the mainline Japanese styles of karate i.e. Wado-Ryu & Shotokan, Shito-Ryu and the historic essence of Okinawan Matsubayashi-Ryu (Shuri-te).
Shojin translates to mean dedication and devotion
The dedication of our teachers to attain the maximum performance from each and every student notwithstanding individual ability.
The devotion of our students in their endeavours to become TRUE KARATEKA.
The reasons for its establishment are to provide effective karate tuition, in an enjoyable atmosphere, and enlightenment into the ideology of the Martial Spirit. These aspects can be attained through diligent training and the study of the many principles that can be found within the numerous karate techniques and teachings.
We do not force any students to train beyond their needs or ability. Grades are really only a reflection of a student’s physical ability, and not necessarily their knowledge, hence allowing a student to rush through his/her grades is contrary not only to the rudimentary ideals of the Martial Arts, but also to the student’s overall understanding and well-being.
Gradings are only undertaken by students who are sufficiently knowledgeable in both technique and attitude, and time/training periods are looked upon as a secondary consideration. Students are encouraged to apply for grading rather than attempt a grading after the scheduled time period has elapsed.
We have affiliations with many groups in the United Kingdom, Romania, Canada and USA which avails us to many sources of Martial Arts Knowledge and experience.
